If you’re new here, WanderWomxn is a travel agency and tour operator creating cultural adventures especially for women and gender expansive folks of color. Our community is diverse in race/ethnicity, gender expression and sexuality. Some experiences will be limited to women and gender expansive folks, while others will be completely open to all the peoples.

Mermaid Parade NYC – One of the most unique events in New York City is the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. It’s the official kick off of summer in NYC where thousands gather to march/dance/shimmy in creative sea-themed costumes. It’s derived from Mardi Gras except it’s an ode to mermaids!
WanderWomxn is putting together a krewe to participate and the theme is “Freedom” because when I’m in the ocean I feel most free. It’s also something that I think about a lot on a personal level and on a global scale. So it’s up to you how to interpret “freedom” with a glittery mermaid, merfolk costume but show up and let’s be free in our bodies in the streets of Coney Island!
Date: Saturday, June 22 (rain or shine). Parade starts at 1pm but we will be meeting before that around 11:30am on Surf Avenue in Coney Island (Brooklyn!).
Who all gon’ be there: This event is open to all gender identities and ages. Families are welcome! There will be nudity so if you have little ones, be prepared!

Caribbean Costa Rica: This area of Costa Rica is distinctly Black and full of rich Caribbean culture! It’s home to the Afro Costa-Rican community and the Bribri Indigenous folks so it has a different flavor than the rest of the country.
We are staying at boutique eco-conscious hotels (Sonora Jungle Yoga Retreat and Rios Ecolodge) Since we are flying in and out of San Jose, the capital, we will do
What we doing:
refreshing waterfalls and a local cacao farm
a Caribbean cooking class with a local family,
our own private beach party,
daily yoga and meditation,
a walking food tour in San Jose (the capital),
and sensual movement classes that I’m teaching! *No prior yoga or dance experience is required — this is for fun and feeling good in our bodies.
Plus the itinerary is spacious so that you have time to chill at the beach or explore Puerto Viejo and the surrounding towns on your own.

Where: Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, San Jose and the Pacuare River in Costa Rica
Who all gon’ be there: This trip is open to women and gender expansive people only. It is geared towards adults over 18.
Cost: Double occupancy for 9 days/8 nights in Costa Rica is $3497 including hotels, most meals, excursions and activities, yoga/meditation/dance classes and transportation to/from airport and to all activities/locations.
